Reviewing Procedure

Author's manuscripts are sent to the official e-mail address of the journal: patria@hse.ru

Manuscripts submitted to the editorial board of Patria undergo a three-stage review process:

  1. Materials are reviewed by the Chief Editor and members of the Editorial Board for compliance with the journal's subject matter. If an article does not meet this requirement, the editorial board has the right to refuse to accept it or to suggest revision, if the content of the text allows it.
  2. Articles are checked for compliance with the requirements for manuscript design. In case of non-compliance with these rules, the material is sent for revision by the Editorial Board.

The period of review of the article according to the criteria in paragraphs 1 and 2 takes from two weeks to one month. According to the results of the review, the editorial office notifies the author about the submission of the manuscript to the reviewer.

  1. The articles that have passed the initial check are sent for reviewing. The Chief Editor has the right to appoint as reviewers both members of the Editorial Board and/or Editorial Council of the journal and outside specialists. The main criteria for appointing a reviewer are the compliance of the scientific field in which he/she specializes with the subject of the article, as well as the absence of a conflict of interest with the author of the manuscript.

The journal “Patria” practices a double-blind review procedure, which implies mutual anonymity of the author and the reviewer. The reviews are of a recommendatory nature - the final decision on publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board of the journal. Checking and reviewing of articles are free of charge.

Reviewing of articles is carried out in accordance with the following criteria:

  • clarity of the goals and objectives set by the author, structured text;
  • scientific novelty of the problem posed and the solution proposed by the author;
  • logicality and validity of the author's argumentation;
  • the author's reference to scientific literature, the presence of references to modern research relevant to the topic of the article;
  • scientific style of presentation.

The duration of the examination is from two to three months. According to its results, reviewers can make one of three decisions:

  • accept for publication without revisions;
  • accept for publication with revisions;
  • not to accept for publication.

At the end of the review period, the author of the manuscript receives a review with recommendations for revision (if any). In case of a positive decision on publication, the author receives a corresponding notification, and the article is sent for editing. The final version of the text is agreed with the author. If necessary, the author has the right to receive a document certifying the acceptance of the manuscript for printing.

The editorial board undertakes to send the received reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation when the editorial board receives a corresponding request.

In case of plagiarism, violation of the principles of publication ethics and ethics of using artificial intelligence and other violations of the rules of publication, the published material may be withdrawn or canceled.
