Keywords: traditions, traditional values, youth, youth studies

Abstract

This study is devoted to the analysis of the perception of traditional values by the active youth of Russia. The authors consider the historical continuity of traditional values in Russian society, starting from the Soviet period and ending with modernity. Based on quantitative and qualitative data collected during the World Youth Festival 2024, the attitude of young people to traditional values outlined in Presidential Decree No. 809 is being investigated. The results show that the majority of respondents support these values, and the degree of support correlates with a positive perception of Russia’s position in the world and patriotic sentiments. The authors identify three groups of young people in relation to traditional values: apologists, loyalists and doubters. The study reveals that young people do not oppose traditional values and the pursuit of personal success, but rather integrate them. In conclusion, the importance of further studying the interaction of traditional and modern values in Russian society and the need to develop a clear communication strategy regarding cultural values when interacting with young people is emphasized.
